High altitude platform company, Sceye, raises series C round 
U.S.-based aerospace company Sceye announced the successful completion of its Series C funding round, led by Saudi Arabia’s Mawarid Holding Company.
The round valued Sceye at $525 million pre-money, providing the capital needed to drive research and development, support test flights, and prepare for commercial operations by 2025.

HEO Robotics awards space domain awareness contract to Blacksky
BlackSky Technology announced “a seven-figure” contract Sept. 19 from Australian startup HEO to provide imagery of space objects for defense, intelligence and commercial use.
Through the agreement, BlackSky, a firm known for rapid and automated Earth-observation, will join HEO’s non-Earth imaging sensor network.

MDA contracts Airbus to supply solar arrays for its satellite product line 
MDA Space has contracted Airbus to supply over 200 solar arrays for MDA’s AURORA satellite product line, which supports Telesat’s Lightspeed constellation.
Airbus will manufacture the solar arrays, called Sparkwing, at its high-capacity facility in Leiden, Netherlands.

ReOrbit enters into satellite communications project with Malaysian energy provider
ReOrbit has entered into an agreement with the leader in the energy and technology landscape in Malaysia Uzma Berhad in relation to a Geostationary Earth Orbit (GEO) communications satellite project.
Under this agreement, ReOrbit together with Uzma aims to provide a software-enabled state-of-the-art GEO communications satellite to bring connectivity and ensure consistent coverage across Malaysia.

Rheinmetall and Iceye expand cooperation
Rheinmetall and ICEYE are expanding their cooperation. The two companies signed a teaming agreement to this effect.
As part of this agreement, Rheinmetall will integrate ICEYE capabilities into their next generation battlefield systems. In addition, Rheinmetall and ICEYE are pursuing joint opportunities in several markets globally, including Germany and Hungary, where Rheinmetall now has exclusive rights to distribute ICEYE SAR satellites to military and government end-users under this agreement.

Lockheed Martin wins contract to supply geostationary lightning mappers
Lockheed Martin won a $297.1 million contract to develop lightning mappers for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s future geostationary constellation.
The contract announced Sept. 17 directs Lockheed Martin to develop two flight instruments and includes options for two additional lightning mappers. Lockheed Martin also will provide support for each lightning mapper for a decade of on-orbit operations and five years of space-based storage.
